This type of ball screw support is very common in the DIY (do it yourself) CNC world. It has never been our preference, as it is not that easy to mount a stepper motor or servo on this support. We prefer to use the FK bearing blocks in combination with a motor bracket. But we see that customers continue to request these blocks. Furthermore, we see that if you want to drive a ball screw with a belt, this is a good and easy standard solution. That is why we have decided to also sell these products. There are many EK blocks on the market and the problem is that they all look the same. And the prices vary enormously. We have chosen to only buy/sell bearings of the highest quality (P5 Taiwan) that are suitable for ball screws in quality classes C3 to C10. The blocks that we have in stock with high-quality bearings are of the type that can be made free of play by adjusting the preload on the angular contact bearings. Please note that many online shops only offer the C7 type, which has normal deep groove bearings and has no preload. Which means you will have play in the axial direction. Under the "compatible products" tab you can find the correct EF Floating support, which is required on the other side of the ball screw.
The difference between EK and BK bearing blocks is that the EK bearing blocks have a different center height. The center height is lower than that of the BK. This can sometimes be more convenient to build a very compact machine. As an example, the BK-10 has a center height of 32.5mm, where the EK 10 has a center height of 25mm. The EK range is also smaller in construction size. While the BK-10 is the smallest BK type, the EK also has the EK05, EK06 and the EK08. All more focused on the miniature market. Think of laboratory equipment and/or miniature machines such as microscopes.
Component features:
- The EK bearing blocks have a lower center height than the BK bearing blocks
- Steel Housing
- Axial angular contact bearings
- C3 High quality bearings made in TAIWAN (the price cannot be compared with C7, which is much lower quality)
- Adjustable preload so that there is no axial play (this is not possible with C7!)
- Includes: Housing+ Bearings+ 2 Spacers + Locknut
- This type of bearing block is used on the fixed side of the ball screw, for the axial & radial loads
- Interchangeable with other brands such as THK, NSK, MISUMI, KURODA
