The Electrospindle C3140 is the smallest design in the Electrospindle family. These motors are widely used on smaller portal milling machines and are very suitable for both milling and drilling due to the ceramic double angular contact bearings in the spindle nose. By means of a variable frequency drive (VFD) the speed can be regulated between 6000 and 24000 revolutions per minute.

This motor differs from the other Electrospindles C3140 motors by its type of cooling. Normal Electrospindles have fan blades at the end of the main shaft that provides cooling but also produces a lot of noise. Electrospindles with electric fan cooling have the advantanges that they make less noise at high speeds and provide sufficient cooling at low speeds where the normal shaft driven fan doesn't provide enough flow. The disadvantage is that the fan is not designed for the rapid radial movements of a CNC portal milling machine, which limits the lifespan of the fan. That is why these motors have a PTC130 for thermal protection and the fan is easy to replace.

This motor differs from the other Electrospindles C3140 motors by its higher power, by using a copper rotor. This makes this Electrospindle C3140 the most powerful motor in this design.
