Inductive Proximity Switch IES 219 NPN 10-36-VDC

At DamenCNC we have been using Inductive Sensors in CNC and Automation projects for years. The advantages are mainly that it switches contactlessly. And quite accurate (<=0.01mm), if connected properly. In the past we have worked a lot with the blue Chinese sensors, great for hobby projects, but we noticed that they regularly break down, and are therefore not suitable for industrial projects. Another problem with the Chinese sensors is that they usually have a very short switching distance, 2mm on steel and 1mm on aluminum. In practice this means that the blue head has to be almost against the detection plate, which can damage the sensor. To solve these problems, we went looking for better quality inductive sensors. We ended up at IFM for that. IFM is a German company that does nothing but develop/sell sensors. The quality is exceptionally good. They give a standard 5-year warranty on the products (they usually last much longer). The problem with the switching distance has also been solved, because this sensor can switch at a distance of 3mm. This makes the adjustment/tuning of the detection plates much easier. We use the inductive sensors from IFM in all our own products/projects.

This inductive sensor is NPN instead of PNP, and that is necessary for the low-cost EdingCNC CPU, the CNC530.
