Precizika Metrology L18B optical linear encoders are able to have the measuring length of up to 3.240 mm, maximum accuracy of ±5 µm to any meter within the measuring length(ML), and grating periods of ±20 µm, ±40 µm(optional). These are commonly used on CNC machines. But also for measuring and quality control equipment. We offer here the 1340mm(ML) measuring length type which is only available in +/- 5 microns per one meter length (+/-5µm) accuracy. We work with the TTL (+5VDC) types, often referred to as RS422. RS422 is a protocol for differential signals that makes for a very reliable signal.
These linear encoders with TTL are compatible with the Delta A2 and A3 servo drivers. Which means this encoder can be connected to the CN5 input on the servo driver, and used for direct positioning. This eliminates any pitch errors in ballscrew, or tooth deviations in rack and pinion systems. This can help to create very accurate machines. Great care must be taken to make sure that there is very little or no backlash, otherwise it's very hard to create a stable PID control loop.
From the same brand, we also offer a simple DRO(Digital Read Out), that can be used with these linear encoders, for simple measurements on manual machines, or in the quality control process. It's a relatively cheap device that is very handy for simple setups.
