Ultra high precision mechanical switch. If you have an ultra precision application, and you are having problems with signal drift. Which is common on inductive proximity sensors. Then this type of switch can solve these problems. These sensors are used in industrial automation, but also in precise CNC machines. For homing or zero-point setting. Because the repeating accuracy is 0.5 micron or less, it will allow for ultra precise homing. Also because there is no signal drift, switches like this can also be used for temperature compensation. This particular type has a linear movement ball bearing integrated. This makes it optimum for slide, deflection angle and offset contacts. By default it has an IP67 protective structure, it can be used in harsh environments with water,emulsion or oils. We have tested these switches in CNC grinding machines, and they work very well, and much more accurately than inductive sensors that we used previously in that machine. The improvements relative to an inductive sensor are about factor 10. The repeating accuracy is 0.0005mm or less. So that is half a micron!
This unit is also a good basis to make a touch probe, to measure in vertical direction. Often this is seen on CNC machines, to detect the Z-zero level of the material. It can als be used to measure & verify the precision of a machine. If you have a granite or other type of kaliber places in the CNC machine.
