At DamenCNC we have a DMG-Mori CMX70U 3+2 machining center with which we make prototypes. We mill a lot of aluminum. We use exactly this type of inserts in our own machining center. The results are astonishing. What's also interesting is that you can use the cutter for so many different types of jobs. Because the XEVT-16 inserts fit all different cutter bodies, it is useful to have several. We have short and stubby specimens for roughing work. And then we have extra long cutters to get very deep into parts. These all use the same inserts. The inserts themselves are available in different radii, so the cutter can easily be adjusted to cut the radius you need in the bottom of a pocket.

These cutters also work well with the high-speed TeknoMotors that we sell. Usually they are sold with the ATC71 and then in the HSK63F version. The high power versions (7.5 to 10kW) can cut real aluminum at a comparable pace to the DMG-Mori machine. We recommend using the smaller diameters of 25 and 32 mm. The 50-80-100 mm face mills are nice, but then you end up at lower speeds where the engine is not as powerful. That is possible, but you should not push too much and actually take it easy.
